I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I chose to send my mom here. The communication with the staff was terrible. The Care provided for my mom was awful. They only bathed her once, and she went home with horrible sores in places she should not have them. I am still treating her wounds and it’s been a few weeks. They did not attempt to educate me with the appeal process, and thus I wasted a ton of money having to pay for my mom to stay longer because I was unable to pick her up on the day insurance released her. Now I am in the appeal process and will have to fight to get reimbursed. according to the insurance company, I was not supposed to pay them until after the appeal process is done. Run from this place as there are much better facilities in the area! Do your research and read the reviews! I’m not one to usually do a poor review, however this place needs some work to revamp their care facility. I was terribly disappointed in all aspects of this place. This was a stressful time for me, and this place doesn’t CARE!
Business response
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident My father is at Rock Creek Care Center nursing home. What I like the most is the staff. They are caring and helpful, and they all share the responsibility. They are always responsive and never frustrated by my requests. They’re friendly to me and my dad. For instance, I came in the morning to take him out of the facility for a few hours, and they got the medicine he needed while he was away, to give to me. They also helped me get him in the car. The mood of the staff is always positive. I have been there while my dad is eating the meals, and I would say that the majority of the time, I would eat the food. It looked and smelled good. They have lots of activities. They have good musicians come and play, and they do Bingo and Hangman. The musicians come in weekly, sometimes more than once a week, with live music. They even do a church service, which I think is upon request. That’s not live, though. They just watch a video and have music they can sing along to. They also plant flowers and have flower boxes in the facility. The building is older, and every room is small, given the number of patients. When you first walk in, the atmosphere is positive because there’s lots of sunlight. You will also see one of the outdoor patios. The skilled nursing side is newer, so the atmosphere is better. It also has newer flooring in the bedrooms. Overall, though, I would say the inside space is rather dismal. We ultimately chose this place because of its proximity to home and because it was Medicare and Medi-Cal approved. For us, the space just happened to open up as we needed it.
